A former police member, Lt-Col Mathews Leballo, has since his retirement not forsaken the needs of vulnerable groups. On 8 December 2017, his Mathews Stars organisation, in conjunction with the senior citizens who are part of the Gembest Nafcoc Centre, arranged a Christmas function to also educate the community about respect for elderly people, and especially those living with disabilities. This was held at the Soshanguve stadium and the community of Soshanguve, Mabopane, Winterveld and neighbouring areas were involved.

Lt-Col Lekganyane from the Division Visible Policing conducted an educational presentation about the Older Persons Act. The elderly people also demonstrated their fitness abilities by doing fitness exercises.

The community members who were involved were very impressed with the well-organised event and thanked Mathews as well as the police members involved for the educational talks.

Those involved pledged that they will report any form of abuse against the elderly and people living with disabilities.
